Antonio Gomez-Millan (1883-1956): Una Revison De La Arquitectura Sevillana De Su Tiempo

£15.99

Product description

This book is in very good condition. At the back, its dust jacket is slightly creased, but is otherwise clean and intact. Internally, there is very slight sun-fading to the end papers, but otherwise the pages are clean, unmarked and intact. This edition includes many black and white photographs, and is in the original Spanish.

This book covers some of the Sevillian architecture of Antonio Gómez Millán, who was born in Seville in 1883, and died there in 1956, at the age of 73. In Seville, he drafted around fifty regional buildings. His work is characterised by its variety, influenced by Modernism, Eclecticism, Historicism, and Classicism. He was an architect who liked to provide variety in his work: in his eclectic deasigns, he rarely repeated themes or shapes, nor did he seem concerned with stylistic unity. This lent a diversity to his work, which was at times opulent and detailed, and at others sober and Modernist. He acted as an Academic at the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts, and later became a member of the Commission of Historical and Artistic Monuments for the province of Seville.
