China Onward - The Estella Collection - Chinese Contemporary Art, 1966 - 2006

£50.00

Product description

The Estella Collection of contemporary Chinese art has been assembled over the past few years in order to elucidate the principal cultural themes propelling artistic change in mainland China and the diaspora. Representing the collectors' conviction that these works are the products of a new cultural vision, yhey express not only the real cultural revolution that is happening in China today but also a whole new way of looking at the world outside her borders.

The driving motivation behind the creation of Estella was the intention to collect a range of work that documents this pivotal, revolutionary movement in Chinese civilisation. Indeed the challenges faced by Chinese artists today are similar to those faced by artists in Europe who, at the beginning of the twentieth century, were grappling with the need to build a comprehensive pictorial language to express a completely new economic, social, scientific, and psychological reality.

There is creasing and slight wear to the top and bottom edges of the dust-jacket. Other than that it is clean throughout.
