Duccio di Buoninsegna and His School - Text and Plates

£112.00 Out Of Stock

Product description

Princeton University Press 1979. Two large heavy hardbacks with dust jackets in good used condition. Both dust jackets are lightly marked front and rear and have light wear at edges. The Plates volume has a little more wear to jacket at top of spine (see photo). Pages are lightly tanned and a little mottled along edges of text block on both volumes. The binding is tight on both books. There is an owners inscription on title page of the text volume. Please note that as these volumes weigh nearly 3kg we have had to add an extra £12 onto the price to cover postage. Oxfam already pays £4 towards postage.

Duccio di Buoninsegna and His School in two volumes (text and plates) by James H. Stubblebine.
Duccio di Buoninsegna, the "Father"of Sienese art and a founder of modern Italian painting, has often been seen as the last flowering of the Middle Ages. But, as James Stubblebine shows here, Duccio's art was much more complex, modern and innovative than previously supposed.
