George Claessen

£139.99

Product description

A large and very handsome volume celebrating the life an work of George Claessen, the Sri Lankan artist, sculptor and poet. Profusely illustrated in vibrant colours. Also some very telling sketches. There is an outline, in words and sketches, of the 43 group - "probably ...the most important milestone in the history of modern art in Sri Lanka".

Paradise publications hardback with clipped DJ. Although this volume is, on first examination, in very good condition, close examination reveals that there is an irregular linear indentation which has slightly damaged the front cover and impinged on the underlying board. There is a small dent in the upper margin of the rear board. The front end page has slight cockling although there is no evidence of damp elsewhere in the book. There is an "ex Libris" label rather inexpertly adherent to the centre of this page.

The blemishes are slight and the illustrations very impressive.
