George Romney. The Kendal Sketchbook.

£14.99

Product description

A collection of preparatory sketches by the artist most remembered for his portraits.

This was called the Kendal Sketchbook because it became the property of Kendal Town Council. No images of Kendal; in fact, mostly done whilst in London, and mainly of figures and faces in different poses.

This was the first time that the majority of these images were made into a public edition. This was facilitated by the Romney Society and the Town Council.

Comes in two parts, one being a catalogue, with introduction and specific descriptions of, and speculations about, the nature of the sketches. The other being 104 pages of the sketches themselves. In a cardboard slipcase.

The slipcase has a few faint marks. The books are very clean.

Relatively hard to find, being a limited print run.
