This is a book of photographs from Poland in the 1980s featuring scenes such as a housing estate in Warsaw with a horse grazing nearby, a mosque near Bialystok, farm life in Haluszowa, potato harvesting in Niwki, a wedding in Lipnica Murowana, a strike in Gdansk, campaign rallies in Gdynia, queueing for sugar in Sanok, Lech Walesa and Solidarity's Headquarters in Gdansk and many scenes of everyday life. There are 87 black and white photographs, each captioned in English and Polish. There is then a section of notes relating to the individual photographs explaining the context (first in Polish, then the section is repeated in English). The book finishes with a 2 page postscript by Dennis Chamberlin (again written first in Polish, then in English).
