About this item

The Frieze of the Forum Transitorium in Rome. In this interpretation of the frieze, built by Domitian in the 1st century AD, the author examines how art depicting mythological themes served as an instrument of social policy in the Roman Empire. She proposes that the frieze represented both a cautionary tale and a model of domestic virtue. This book is in very good condition, with red hard cover protected by original dust jacket in very good condition with only slight scuffs and creases to corners and slight fading. Internally, pages are in excellent condition. This book also contains 91 black and white plates which give a visual interpretation.
