A fascinating document published in 1944, outlining draft proposals for the reconstruction of the City of London (ie the "Square Mile") after World War Two. Printed on heavy cream paper. Illustrated with plates including historical images of St Paul's Cathedral etc, as well as detailed coloured fold-out maps of railways and underground, land use and sewers, and large photograph of the area from the air taken in 1935.
Hardback, quarter bound in yellow and red cloth, gilt blocked on front with coat of arms of the City of London, and title on spine.
Condition: Good. Light soiling to front cover, spine edges rubbed. Edges of fold out maps creased and with small closed tears, where they extend beyond the text pages.
