Revealing the Abbey

£19.99

Product description

A4 size spiral bound book with clear plastic cover to the front and a blue paper back page. The top right corner of the front is crumpled and the lower right corner bends outwards. Internally the book is clean and bright, the spiral binding is all in place and there are no tears where it pierces the book. The subtitle of the book is "Stone Recording Project Tupholme Abbey, Lincolnshire". In the foreword it states "Towards the end of 2001 Professor Mick Aston of Channel 4's Time Team came to Lincoln at the invite of the Friends of Lincolnshire Archaeology to give a lecture to members of the public. He generously allowed the profits of this talk to be put towards society funds. From these proceeds the Friends held a series of workshops for both society members and members of the public to learn basic archaeological skills. By the end 2003 the society was looking for a bigger project and at the suggestion of Liz Bates, the then Heritage Development Officer for the Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire, owners of Tupholme Abbey, the society decided to apply for funds from the Local Heritage Initiative to record the loose stones on the abbey site." At the back of the book there are five plates of computer generated reconstructions of Tupholme Abbey.
