Roman Brick and Tile

£100.00

Product description

This pioneer survey of Romano-British tile and brick of every kind is the result of researching all possible sources such as museums, sites and archaeological units. There are thirty different forms of ceramic building material and a history with classical references prefaces a study of each form, with an occasional overseas comparison. Many different functions and features are discussed. The book has light brown boards and gilt titles. Condition is near-fine, with some light foxing freckles on part of the upper text block edge, and some small foxing spots on the front end paper, normally hidden by the jacket flap, which has corresponding marks underneath the flap and lightly on the top. The jacket has only a few light marks on the glossy surface, and sunning has faded the red colour on the left-hand border on the front. The book contains numerous b/w photographs and drawings, and should be of particular interest to excavators of buildings in which tile was employed.
