The Cleaning and Restoration of Museum Exhibits

£14.99

Product description

This third report (1926) of investigations conducted at the British Museum follows those of 1921 and 1923, also carried out at the request of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. The studies investigate, from a scientific point of view, known processes for treatment of museum exhibits and aim to discover new processes based on exact scientific knowledge. Plates of each exhibit examined are shown (39). This work has resulted in a marked improvement in the condition of exhibits being treated and an arrest of their deterioration. In some cases, the techniques used have exposed the exhibit to be a fake.

This hard cover book was previously a library book and has an embossed stamp on the cover, a library sticker inside the front cover, and stamps inside on the reverse of each page holding a plate. It shows signs of wear and the spine is grubby. Interior pages are clear and legible. Number of pages shown below does not include the pages of plates which are at the end.
