When teacher John Myatt put a modest advertisement in Private Eye as a painter of genuine fakes, he had no idea that it would lead to him becoming a willing part of the biggest art fraud in Britain. Among one of the few people who responded was the mysterious and magnetic John Drewe, a Professor and inventor with impressive connections. Soon the commissions flooded in and soon it also became clear that there was something very fishy about them. When he confronted Drewe, to his amazement he found himself agreeing to an audacious criminal career with Drewe as the spider in an ever-growing web of deceit...

Located in the centre of the historic market town, we are open seven days a week. You will find a wide and interesting range of stock, including a great selection of children's books, popular and classical music on vinyl and CD, vintage Penguins and other paperbacks, and quirky and collectable items. Our stock is selected by knowledgeable volunteers, catering for both general readers and specialists. We are happy to check our backroom stock for wanted items and also offer a request service. Our themed windows are usually changed every two weeks, with our December Christmas displays offering a diverse and unusual range of gift ideas.

We welcome your donations, which can be brought to the rear of the building (via the Lower Kings Road Car Park). Please contact us before bringing large quantities to discuss arrangements.
