This very scholarly Catalogue studies in depth a number of works belonging to the collection of superb Flemish Primitives hosted in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Belgium. A wide range of Institutions and Universities took part in the project launched in 1991 and supported by the Deferal Office for Scientific, Technical and Cultural Affairs. In this first volume there are 18 paintings (out of a total of 82), studied under a number of aspects illustrated on the Notes to the Reader on pp 25-27: Attribution and Classification of the Paintings; Material Data and Dimensions; Signatures, Coats of Arms, Marks, Inscriptions, Labels; Provenance; Restoration; Technical Notes; Status Quaestionis; Iconography; Mention of Comparative Works not in the KMSKB/MRBAB; Bibliography; Illustrations; Diagrams; Technical Documentation. Contains 275 pages. Introduction on pp 13-20. The initial 30 colour plates reproduce the 18 works and some of their details as well as the reverse paintings; each entry is illustrated with b/w illustrations, which are 174 in total and listed on pp 251-257. Concordance of Old/New Attributions on p 259; Index of Works, by alphabetical order of places of conservation, on pp 261-273. Bound in grey paper. Some crease to the edges of the pages, and minor rubbing to the covers. In very good condition. The book weighs 1.3 kg.
