The Growth and Work of the Royal Institute of British Architects: A Centenary History

£14.99

Product description

Royal Institute of British Architects, London, 1934, first edition, hardback with dust jacket, 8vo, pp ix + 187 + [66], illustrated by 11 plates and 33 pages of presidential portraits.
This book was published on the occasion of the centenary of RIBA in 1934. Although it makes no pretence to enter into the intricacies of Institute history in detail, it shows how varied had been its activities and what good service it had been able to render to the profession and the country over the first 100 years of its existence. The last 66 pages of book provides a comprehensive collection of portraits and brief biographies of the presidents of the Institute up to the date of the centenary.
The book is in good condition. Boards are clean and undamaged except for bumping to extremities. Pages are tanned withh minor foxing evident on their edges. A corner has been torn from page 233/4 with some, possibly associated, damage to the edge of page 235/6 but otherwise the pages are undamaged. Binding is sound. Dust jacket is in fair condition only with tears and paper loss to both the upper and lower edges (see photos).

Oxfam Books & Music Jesmond

We are a specialist shop nestled in the heart of Jesmond, a lovely residential area of Newcastle Upon Tyne. We opened in July 2010 and have on offer 5,000 books, 2,000 records, CDs and games as well as sheet music, cards and stationery within the shop. Our shop has high ceilings and a nice, bright and airy feel. We are gaining a very good reputation in the Rare and Collectable books and vinyl community, but also do a roaring trade in contemporary fiction and modern non-fiction. We also organise live music and book events and aim to be a hub of culture in this wonderfully tight-knit community.
