The Wedding Dress: A Sourcebook

£12.99

Product description

This exciting sourcebook is bursting with ideas for the elegant bride-to-be, to help her find her perfect wedding dress. Whether it's ideas for an off-the-peg design or inspiration for a couture made-to-measure gown, this book will show at a glance the main styles from which to choose. Each chapter features a classic line (Empire Line, Princess Line, Ballgown, etc.) and explains what body shape it suits, which fabrics it works best with, the era it hails from and, of course, which famous brides wore the style. Every line is illustrated with a striking artwork and then follow hundreds of dresses to spark the imagination. Featuring famous faces, modern brides, vintage classics and a wide range of dress designers, the photographs show what can be done with the basic shape - from classic simplicity to daring flights of fancy. This is the ultimate source of dress and accessory ideas and will make a wonderful engagement gift.

Published in 2005, this first edition is complete with its unpriceclipped dustjacket. However the jacket shows some signs of shelf-wear. The edges are rubbed and there are faint scratches to the cover and spine. The book is bound in pale-brown cloth with bronze embossing on the spine. There is a score on the front cover and a vertical scuff on the back. The endpapers are a little faded.

Oxfam Bookshop Hexham

We relocated in January 2016 to larger premises and are now able to offer a wider range of books and music (you can come and check out your musical choices in our listening booth and also find out a lot more about Oxfam's work.). We have a new local interest section, more space for history and have extended our craft and arts offer.  We also sell cards, fair trade food and ethical cleaning and beauty products.

Hexham is a market town situated in the beautiful Tyne Valley - the ideal stopping off point before exploring Hadrian's Wall, Chesters, Housesteads and the Temple of Mithras at Carrawburgh.
