On the floor of Zebedee Jones studio are the remains of what looks like a process small black chunks which evoke the shavings from a sculptor's chisel more than the liquid residue of the painter's brush This is the skin shred from the paint and one of strata of paint which Jones builds on his canvases scrapped off before he adds another layer on to dense painting surface submerging himself again in the magical realm of paint the process of accrual and stepping back and stripping back and tension between a planner surface some depth are just two examples of a series of pushes and pulls at the heart of his work His paintings initial striking appearance as often the paintings are frozen in a moment in time as if Jones had suspended in a painting.

Published in 2011 for the exhibition at Agnew's Gallery, 12 October to 4 November.

Slight bumping to corners but otherwise in good clean condition.
