John Bunyon's The Pilgrim's Progress

£45.00

Product description

John Bunyon's The Pilgrim's Progress is a set of five audio CDs, narrated by Max McLean for 'The Listener's Collection of Classic Christian Literature', as a production of the Fellowship for the Performing Arts and published by Discovery House Publishers. The collection is housed in a gatefold cardboard sleeve with a numbered pocket for each individual disc. The corners of the package are scuffed and worn rather than bumped, but the spine is creased along the centre. The packaging is illustrated with quotes from the text and images seemingly from the Henry Altemus edition of the book, by various artists and engraved by the Dalziel Brothers. Each disc has its own single colour illustration from the story. The first disc has some minor scratches, while the remainder are in excellent condition.

The blurb tells us, "'. . . as I slept I dreamed a dream,' So begins one of the most beloved stories in all of history. John Bunyon's beautiful and moving allegory of Christian, the Pilgrim, on his perilous journey to the celestial city, has touched hearts and minds for more than three hundred years.

Filled with unforgettable characters _ Evangelist, Charity, Hypocrisy, Goodwill, Obstinate, and Mr Worldly Wiseman- this wonderful story offers a unique insight into the Christian life, its joys and trials, its opportunities and struggles.

Max McLean's lively, heartfelt reading is taken from a slightly updated (in 1989), easier-to-follow text that retains the style and form of the original."
