30 Years with G.B.S

About this item

George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950) was an Irish playwright, writing more than 60 plays, and a co-founder of the London School of Economics. He was also an essayist, novelist and short story writer. Most of his writings addressed prevailing social problems such as education, marriage, religion, government, health care, and class privilege. This book is written by Blanche Patch, Mr. Shaw's private secretary for the last 30 years of his life and is a fascinating description of her time with 'G.B.S' . This book is in generally good condition, with brick orange binding clean and bright, apart from bumping to top and base of spine, and with the original dust jacket which has some staining, and been fixed with tape at the corners. This is now protected with a clear plastic sleeve. Internally, pages are in good condition, with some browning and foxing from age. This book also contains an insert thought to be a note and autograph from the author, on Waterloo Hotel, Aberystwyth headed notepaper, now protected in a clear plastic sleeve. Also contains a black and white photograph, "In the study at Whitehall Court".
