About this item

Authorised biography of the Scottish cult folk hero behind the chart hit 'Year of the Cat', who enjoyed Top Ten success in the US. With extended interviews not only with Stewart but with a number of other 60s folk stars, this is a vivid insider's account of the pivotal coffee house scene that built the careers of Paul Simon - with whom Al shared a flat in 1965 - and many others, as well as a wry memoir of a 60s folk star's trials and tribulations through subsequent decades.

Oxfam Books & Music Jesmond

We are a specialist shop nestled in the heart of Jesmond, a lovely residential area of Newcastle Upon Tyne. We opened in July 2010 and have on offer 5,000 books, 2,000 records, CDs and games as well as sheet music, cards and stationery within the shop. Our shop has high ceilings and a nice, bright and airy feel. We are gaining a very good reputation in the Rare and Collectable books and vinyl community, but also do a roaring trade in contemporary fiction and modern non-fiction. We also organise live music and book events and aim to be a hub of culture in this wonderfully tight-knit community.
