John Ray: naturalist

£24.99

Product description

This is the 1986 Reissue of the Second Edition of Charles E. Raven's biography of the naturalist John Ray, originally published in 1950. Published by the Cambridge University Press as part of the Cambridge Science Classics series. Introduction by S. M. Walters.

From the blurb: "Charles Raven's biography of the seventeenth-century English naturalist John Ray is one of the great works in the history of science. The author's command of Latin (the language in which Ray's biological works were all written) and his enthusiasm for natural history enabled him to interpret superbly to the modern reader John Ray's remarkable scientific work and to rescue Ray's reputation from undeserved neglect."

Very good condition paperback. Light bumping and corner wear. The spine has faded. Light foxing to the edges of the block. Internally clean and clear, the text is all fully legible.
