Finney was an American Revivalist preacher and was best known as an innovative revivalist, an opponent of Old School Presbyterian theology, an advocate of Christian perfectionism, a pioneer in social reforms in favor of women and African-Americans, a religious writer, and president at Oberlin College. He lived from 1792 until 1875, and despite a rudimentary early education became President of Oberlin College.

Salvation Army hardback with no DJ. Blue cloth covered boards with gilt lettering to front and spine together with the Salvation Army insignia in gilt on the front cover. The spine cover is a bit grubby with wear to top and bottom. Moderate wear to corners. There are two dedications on the ffep in ink. The binding is somewhat loose and the final page (of advertisements) is partially detached. Otherwise in good condition.
