Lord Cornwallis, Spirit of Kent

£9.99

Product description

"Heredity, environment, opportunity and determination form the basis of a successful life. Lord Cornwallis has them all. Even more, friendliness and a sense of humour, too. Mr. H. R. Boorman details incidents in our Lord Lieutenant's life from the time he won the Military Cross in the First World War, to the time when he was made a Doctor of Civil Law by the late Princess Marina, Chancellor of Kent University at Canterbury. During this time Lord Cornwallis has been Captain of the Kent County Cricket Team, Chairman of the Kent County Council, and during the Second World War has encouraged the Kent farmers to grow double their normal production of food, as well as guiding the Association of Men of Kent and Kentish Men, and being Provincial Grand Master of the Freemasons. One cannot think of Kent without thinking also of the name Cornwallis, for Lord Cornwallis is Kent and symbolizes to us the Spirit of Kent - hence the name of this book."

Book in very good condition with some page foxing on the first page.
