San Francesco d'Assisi

£60.00

Product description

In Italian. A detailed account of the life, work and legends of Saint Francis of Assisi, from his birth in 1182 to his death in 1226 and his subsequent beatification in 1230. Multiple illustrations throughout, plates in black and white and in colour, many of them showing contemporary works of art - paintings, sculptures and church interiors. There is a brief introduction by Pope Benedict 15th, to whom the book is dedicated. There is a signed handwritten note indicating that this was a gift, dated 1970.

This hardcover book is printed on heavy duty art paper and has some foxing on a few interior pages, but text throughout is clear and legible. The cover is clad in fabric (linen?) which shows some signs of wear at the edges and is somewhat soiled.

To be shipped by courier because of weight.
