Ex-Flight Lieutenant Roy Hill tells the true story of his life in the RAF in the Second World War.
Joining at 18, he tells of bring assigned to an operational Lancaster Squadron ( No.207 ) and provides an intimate profile of each of the six other members of the crew. The risks and dangers of night operations are graphically exposed, as is the evacution from their burning and crippled aircraft on a dark night in the depth of the winter 1944.
The period spent as a prisoner of war at P.O.W. Camp Stalag Luft 1, with all its privations, is well documented. This copy is signed by the author on the inside of the front cover, and is personalised "To Kenneth Best Wishes". The illustrated cover has only light general handling marks; light corner rubbing and small bumping crease to top right front corner. Inside pages are clean and bright; printed on glossy white paper. Illustrated with b/w photographs in the text and two sections of colour photographs.
