The Countess of Airlie, after suffering the early death of her husband in the Boer War, brought up her children and then became the lifelong friend and Lady - in - Waiting to Queen Mary in 1902. Her memoirs cover WW1, social unrest and poverty in the 1920's and 1930's through WW2 to her death in 1956. The dust jacket is acceptable with some damage to the spine and corners. The burgundy hard cover is acceptable with some markings. The end papers are good with some markings from a previous dust jacket cover. The pages are in very good condition.
