The Fish Retailer And His Trade Volumes I, II & III

£50.00

Product description

Across the three volumes one could learn everything there was to know about Fish retailers in the 1930's. It details not only different types of fish and how to cut them, but also fishing methods, prices and multitudes of recipes.

Vol I pp 224 + coloured frontis & 48pp monochrome halftone photographs; Vol II pp 225-464 + coloured frontis & 72pp monochrome halftone photographs; Vol III pp 465-683 + frontis & 48pp monochrome halftone photographs. Blue leatherette boards stamped in gilt on the spine and decorated with fish stamped in black on the spine and front board provide a very decorative finish to the set.

Each volume has aged fairly well, however they all show some signs of browning, foxing and minor discolouration to the covers. The first and third volume have some of the pages close to falling out, whilst in the second volume the some of the illustrations and pages have torn edges. The first and second volumes have maintained their covers well, but the third volume's spine and back cover are fairly loose. Nevertheless, none of this detracts from the overall quality of literature and knowledge that would be obtained from reading these three volumes.
