Alfred H Miles was a late Victorian/Early Edwardian anthologiser who published hundreds of books during his working life. This volume is typical of the times, containing tales on the virtues of hard work and religious faith. Bound in deep red with embossed illustrations on the front and on the spine, involving tigers. Minor signs of wear to binding, there is also a previous owner's name, neatly inscribed on the front inside board in black ink and on the ffep there is a prize Award label dated Advent 1921. Some pages are a little foxed but for its age it is in very good condition.
Text pages are clear, as are the numerous illustrated plates and delightful b/w line drawings.
