Eagle Annual Number 5, The Fifth Eagle Annual

£24.99

Product description

This Eagle Annual Number 5 is an ex-library copy and shows signs of considerable wear and tear. It is a first edition, published in 1955. It is beautifully illustrated with humorous colour and b/w strip cartoons and full-page illustrations of battleships. The features are comprehensive and include Dan Dare in 'Operation Plum-Pudding', true stories, science articles and hobby pages. There is no dustwrapper. The red pictorial boards are marked, scratched and the edges are very worn. There is a number in blue ballpoint written across the front. The dark green cloth spine has also been written on and is torn and faded. The binding is just about holding. There is a library borrowing slip pasted to the front fly leaf and the title page has been clipped. 'This book belongs to' on the title page verso has also been filled in using red ink. Page 71 has been ripped and mended with sticky tape which is now yellowing. However, the crossword has not been filled in, although the answer page appears to be missing. It is a great record of design styles and children's interests at the time it was published.

Oxfam Bookshop Hexham

We relocated in January 2016 to larger premises and are now able to offer a wider range of books and music (you can come and check out your musical choices in our listening booth and also find out a lot more about Oxfam's work.). We have a new local interest section, more space for history and have extended our craft and arts offer.  We also sell cards, fair trade food and ethical cleaning and beauty products.

Hexham is a market town situated in the beautiful Tyne Valley - the ideal stopping off point before exploring Hadrian's Wall, Chesters, Housesteads and the Temple of Mithras at Carrawburgh.
