This rare 1977 edition is in good condition. It has some wear to the edges of the cover, and some discolouring to the page ends, but is otherwise tight, clean and unmarked. It contains illustrations by Mary Moore, daughter of the famous sculptor Henry Moore.
Stories, like buses, travel.......we thought the tale had been written by an American Indian long dead, before its rivers were polluted, its forests stripped and its cities spawned. We were wrong. The story of jumping Mouse was originally written by Hyemeyohsts Storm and first published as recently as 1972 in his collection of traditional and original stories Seven Arrows.....The story of Jumping Mouse as it appears here is my personal interpretation, and I hope that after reading it children and adults alike will be inspired to seek out the original tale. Whether African, American-Indian or Sufi, in all such tales there is a lesson to be learnt as well as story to be enjoyed. Perhaps one of the 'lessons' of Jumping Mouse is that all creatures are part of a whole, that they interact, give to and take from each other, no matter how unimportant they might at first appear.
