Launcey Vernon

£24.99

Product description

Published by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, this is a sentimental story for children designed to improve their behaviour and Christian Faith. Although the book is bumped at edges and corners, the delicately coloured illustration of a young boy in "Little Lord Fauntleroy" suit and small girl in "Alice in Wonderland" attire on the front of the book is rather charming, with only a slight red stain in the top centre of front cover. The same illustration to the rear board is unstained, though bumped and chipped on edges and corners similar to the front.
The interior is clean and the stitching is still tight. A previous owner's name is neatly written in ink on the inside front board. All text is clear and there are several delightful b/w illustrated plates. After the story there are 2 advertisement pages of SPCK publications.
Undated and the identity of the author remains a mystery.
