It is over 50 years since the first publication of Stig of the Dump by Clive King: the story of Barney and his best friend, cave-man Stig, is as fresh today as it was when first published.
'Stig's nice. He's my friend'..... Nobody believes Barney when he says he's discovered a boy living wild in the dump. But for Barney, Stig is totally real. They become great friends, learn each other's ways and embark on a series of exciting adventures.
This is an ex library book, the dust jacket is in a protective plastic wrapper and has a classification label on the spine. The front end papers bear a barcode, a date of issue label and a ticket pocket, the title page has a school library stamp. Apart from this and a little dust soiling to text block edges, the book is in excellent condition. The block is tight, all text is clear on clean pages, Edward Ardizzone's b/w illustrations are precise and evocative. The colourful dust jacket, though a little sunned on the spine, remains bright and well-illustrated.
