Stirring Stories for Boys

£24.99

Product description

Believed to be from 1928 - the dedication in the front is doted 1933. A typical collection of adventure stories. Line and colour illustrations by four artists - Knight, Ogle, Sherman and White.
John F Shaw hardback with no DJ. The front cover has s dramatic pictures of an adventurous youth being savaged by a ferocious looking tiger while another youth is pointing his revolver at the animal (I would think, from the picture, that there was a real risk of his hitting his colleague). The boards show considerable edge and corner wear. The spine cover is good. Faint inscription on reverse of front board dated 1933. The paper is rather thick. There is a little foxing particularly of the title page. The colour illustration opposite p 8 has an oblique crease.
