The Adventure Annual

£14.99

Product description

The Adventure Annual features a wide range of stories, in both text and comic format, about Swift Morgan, Captain Daring, Black Roger, Dollman, Roy Carson, Adam Peril and others. Illustrations are in colour and b/w, many by the well-known British illustrator Denis McLoughlin who pruduced the cover illustration. This is one of the traditional British comic and story annuals, which were published each year in time for Christmas shopping during the 1950's. This volume is understood to have been published for Christmas 1953 as it includes a story about the climbing of Mount Everest in May of that year. A 'well-loved' book which has noticeable wear to all cover edges, surface scratches and marks and a partial break between the front end papers exposing the webbing. Text block edges are browned and page edges are tanned. The front name panel is completed in pencil; above this is a gift inscription in ink: 'To John from Gran'. Unfortunately page no 31/32 is missing, which is the end of the Black Roger story, so we must assume that he is victorious over the Barbary pirates. A book which would be of particular interest to comic adventure fans and collectors of annuals.
