Product description

This delightful book, telling of the various adventures of a young boy called Chunky, was very popular during the 20 or so years following its first publication in 1950. It appeared in this edition as No. 16 in the Oxford Children's Library series (comprising a total of 66 titles), and thus would be of interest to a collector of the series.

Leila Berg (1917–2012) was a Lancastrian by birth, and devoted her lift to writing English children's books. to journalism, and to children's education and the rights of the young.

Our copy is in excellent condition, the clipped dust jacket protected by a clear plastic outer cover and showing very minor signs of wear. The book itself is bound in navy cloth with titles etc in silver lettering on the spine. There is a slight line of ?gum/adhesive running across near the top of the front and back covers, and the top and bottom edges are very slightly faded. Otherwise there are only minimal signs of wear externally. Inside, the binding is firm, all pages are clean and bright, and the text is nicely enhanced with small line drawings by George Downs.
