The Dandy Book 1957

£19.99

Product description

This copy of the Dandy Annual, called The Dandy Book, is from 1957, although it is not dated.

Korky the Cat features on the front board of this edition. Desperate Dan is included on the back board and in several stories within (as is Korky the Kat). Storyboard characters include The Doings of Dinah Mite, Black Bob, The Tricks of Screwy Driver and Tin Lizzie. Specials consist of Wild Wulf, the text-based Thundering Dustbins and the non-fictional Young Drake. The large end sheet cartoons show the ambush of hapless teachers, by a class of naughty children.

Originally in bright red, the boards are faded and all of the edges are worn. All of the corners are bumped and the spine is torn top and bottom. Around an inch of the spine is missing from the top and bottom. The edges of the pages are light faded and yellowed inside. The hinges are intact, but the binding is loose, with one of the pages coming adrift. The front end sheet is torn at the top, but there is no scribbling or defacing of the pages. However, the capital 'K' of Korky on the front cover has been overdrawn in biro.

This would certainly serve as a good reading copy.
