Second edition published in 1953 by Wills & Hepworth.

A Ladybird Senior, series 536. Written by Brian Vesey-Fitzgerald with illustrations by Allen W Seaby.

Usually this book has printed on the rear of the front end paper 'Second edition 1953'.
Most Ladybird books, require some investigation to accurately ascertain the true publication date. This book features the following supporting details to help conform the publication date:
- Buff-coloured boards with brown lettering and illustration. (earlier than 1965)
- Open-winged butterfly logo. (earlier than 1961)
- Illustrated end papers with brown open-winged ladybird design. (1953-1960)
- Spine lettering runs from bottom to top (earlier than 1959).

In fair condition only..
No dust jacket. There is wear and damage on the spines. The board cover is discoloured and marked. There is a split along the full length of the internal join between the last page and the end paper, this is a clean split and good easily be repaired, otherwise the binding is sound. Apart from one or two foxing spots the internal pages are clean and there are no annotations.
