Achtendertig nachten

Product description

Elsjen Roelofs is suspected of poisoning her husband, Jan Alberts. In March 1767 she enters the prison of Assen, where she must wait for her trial and for the child she is expecting to be born.
A girl is born in the solitude of prison. It is immediately taken away from Elsjen. Then the bare walls of the prison give her no rest, and the nightly visit of Janna, the only woman who shows her compassion. Initially Elsjen doesn't know anything about her, but gradually she begins to trust her. Elsjen asks for paper and ink to start a record of her life for her little girl, for later. Then at least someone would know who she was. And so, while writing, Elsjen looks back on her life. How could it happen that she became who she is now? Whether Elsjen is guilty or not becomes increasingly difficult to answer. Who is this woman who killed her husband?

Thirty-eight nights is based on a true story.
In Dutch.

Pages are clean and in very good condition.
There is some slight discolouration at the edges and wear to the cover, but otherwise the cover is in good condition.
