Published in 1977 this slim paperback was published by Leeds University Oriental Society. The introduction notes ' In this volume we present English Translations of seventeen Arabic short stories. They come from seven Arab Countries; Iraq' Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan' Libya, Tunisia and Morrocco, and they include examples from each of the the last four decades. They have been chosen to give some idea of the considerable range of subject matter and treatment in modern Arabic writing.'

The covers have some light damage especially at the edges. The rear cover top right corner has been bent back, the other corners have minor bumps. The inside front cover has a signature in pen. Internally all pages are present, clean and tight to the spine.
