FIRST EDITION: It states on the cover that this is a novel of fact. It is the story of American men and women - the Donner Party of 1846- who found, on the Overland Trail, despair, heroism, cannibalism and (some of them) success. Published in 1934 by Minton, Balch & Co of New York. The book is covered with light green cloth with dark green titles on the front and spine and is in good condition. The dust jacket, which is glassine protected, has a green illustration on the front but is otherwise beige and black. There are some nibbles from the edges of the dust jacket but is otherwise in good condition. The pages have been handcut. There is a map of the route taken by the Donner Party on both end papers, from Missouri to California. Also on the fep the name of the original owner along with the date October 1935 is in inscribed in ink, the same inscription is on the title page. Internally the book is clean, bright and tightly bound.
