Heart of Midlothian

£44.99

Product description

Walter Scott's Heart of Midlothian: on the half title page, after the title page, it is refered to as "Tales of My Landlord. Collected and Arranged by Jedediah Cleishbotham, Schoolmaster and Parish Clerk of Gandercleugh". This is volume 7 of the Centenary Edition.
Half leather and orange marbled with gilt, endpapers similarly marbled. Much of the spine has been worn away, the boards are separating from the block but hang on by their stitching in one or two places. The end papers at front and back are partially detached, exposing some stitching; pages 503-506 are partially unstitched. Apart from this the block is tight, marbled text block edges are remarkably bright, all text pages are clean with clear text and the book is remarkable for its age (145 years old). The frontispiece and other b/w illustrations are superbly executed and in excellent condition.
