Product description

FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR: Dark blue cloth covered book with gilt titles on the spine, all in very good condition. The dust jacket is slightly bent along the top edges and a crease part way down the front but is otherwise in very good condition. Internally the book is clean, bright and tightly bound. It contains an inbuilt book mark. Inside the front cover and on the facing page is a map of England and part of Northern France and inside the back cover and its facing page there is a family tree of the descendants of King Edward III. A heavy book.

King Henry V - the great Lion of England - is long dead. In 1437, after years of regency, the pious and gentle Henry VI, the Lamb, comes of age and accedes to the English throne. His poor health and frailty of mind render him a weakling king. Yet there are those who believe England must be led by a strong king if she is to survive. With England's territories in France under threat, and rumours of revolt at home, fears grow that Henry and his advisers will see the country slide into ruin.
