The Two Admirals (The Works of James Fenimore Cooper)

£14.99

Product description

In this beautiful 1896 edition of The Works of James Fenimore Cooper, published by G.P. Putnam's Sons, the novel 'The Two Admirals' features.

The events related in this story occur in the reign of George II, previous to the Old French War, as it is called in America. The two chief features of the plot consist of the question of the legal points of English law at that period regarding the succession to titles and estates, and the lifelong friendship of a vice-admiral and a rear-admiral of the same fleet, which proved stronger than their political prejudices.

In terms of condition, the book is good. Externally, its red cloth cover has the usual bumping and scuffing expected from shelf storage, as well as markings on its back cover and a library stamp on its page edges.

Being an ex-library book, internally there are various library stamps and writing on its endpapers. Heavy foxing occurs on the title page and frontispiece and the binding is rather loose (although all pages remain attached). Pages are beginning to brown but there is no writing or markings on the actual text.

Seen as one of Fenimore Cooper's best pieces of work, The Two Admirals is a classic must-read novel.
