An adventure story for boys published in 1903, it is a tale of treasure hunting and morality.
Bound in deep oxblood with a black, pale grey, yellow and gilt front illustration and gilt lettering, the boards are minimally bumped on the edges and corners. Text block edges are foxed and age toned, pages 257 - 272 are more age toned than the rest of the book, end papers are moderately foxed, however all the text is clear, the b/w frontispiece and 3 further full-page b/w illustrations remain clear, adding to the excitement of the story.
The fixed front end paper has an ink inscription "Presented to Fred White by the Committee of the Primitive Methodist Sunday School Brigg Feb 1906".
