Translated by Henry Frith. Two volumes bound in one. No date, but on the initial endpage there is a paper label dated 31st October 1905 (Attendance prize to a pupil in Birmingham). Only other old editions, after the 1887 first edition, date back to 1909 and 1910. In total 253 + 256 pages (pagination starts again with vol. II). Bound in green cloth on hard boards, gilt lettering on the front and on the spine, where the gilt frame is very clear and well preserved. The titles on the spine and on the front cover read "20,000 leagues". With a blue, black and green drawing on the front cover, depicting a sailor looking at far distance, the title framed within delicate white flowers, which are also on the spine. End pages are very foxed. The hinges of the front and back covers are cracked but the binding is tight. Book in good condition and very clean inside. No dust cover. The front cover is bumped along the upper margin, as is the spine on both upper and lower margins.
