About this item
This new and enlarged edition of the cookery classic published in 1898 contains not just recipes, but also menus, tables decorations and practical advice.
Bound in red cloth. There is some damage to the spine: it is frayed at head and base, there is a split from where the top of the rear board is attached to the spine, approx. 13.5 cm, but all pages are present, though some are a little loose. One of the frontispiece illustration pages has come loose, but all three coloured plates are still bright and vivid. The text is clearly legible, amazing for its age, and all-in-all, a good++ book.
The advertisement pages are charming: whatever happened to Swinburne's Isinglass, and how can we do without it? Mason's extract of herbs, Cantrell & Cochrane's table waters, Keen's mustard-the list goes on.
