The Book of School Games

£9.99

Product description

This is a delightful period piece! C E Hodges, was a prizeman at Christ's College Cambridge no less, Gives instruction for a large number of different school games - for the playground, the classroom, Geographical Games, Historical Games and Physical exercises as game., Games for seniors and ball games. There is something for all tastes. But as he wisely observes in his Preface "If the children become conscious that their play is scientifically planned they may easily get the notion that it is after all only a form of work.."

Evans brothers card backed book in the Kingsway series. The cover cards are a bit grubby and worn with a linear mark adjacent to the spine on the rear. The pages show a little generalised tanning. T here is a date stamp on the ffep of 5 July 1928, suggesting that this example was initially used in a school. No marks and the binding if firm.

Children's play, I suspect, does not change much with the years and I would lay a considerable sum that youngsters would enjoy this selection - and the teacher at his/her wits end may find the suggestions worthwhile
