Product description

An attractively produced two volume set of the original patterns of Admiralty ships badges. Contains official badges of ships, shore establishments, naval stations and fleet support units of the Royal Navy, together with a number of badges for ships transferred to Commonwealth and foreign navies. Volume one covers Abdiel to Lysander and volume two has Mackay to Zulu. An alphabetical listing of each badge is followed by the colour plates, printed on art paper. The preface describes the history, design, manufacture, painting, heraldry and coats of arms. A separate 7 page addendum lists 16 badges issued after publication.
The heavy books, which will be delivered by courier and insured, have maroon boards with gilt titles and are in fine condition. Very light dust soiling on front text block edges. The jackets are in very good condition, showing slight wear and creasing to corners and spine ends, both wrappers have a closed tear, approx. 2 cm, to the top right front corner. The glossy surface has general light indentation marks and rubbing.
Our illustration shows the four badges to a page layout.
