This general introduction to African traditional music as practised by the various ethnic groups in modern Ghana aims to provide a basis for study and for further investigation.
Among the aspects of Ghanaian music covered are the organisation of folk music, musical types, performing groups and their music, vocal music, melody, harmony, rhythm, instrumental resources and traditional ensembles. Knowledge of the theory of music is assumed in only three chapters.
Formal features of the music are illustrated in the text or in the appendix and eighteen songs which the author collected are given with the notion. The comprehensive bibliography includes details of folksong collections and original compositions.

Condition: good, dust jacket has a slight tear to the bottom of the front cover and colour fading to front and back cover, it has also be priced clipped. Book condition is very good, little sign of any shelfware. Interior pages are crisp and clean with a tight binding.
