Air Photography and Archaeology

£14.99

Product description

The book is in fine condition with purple boards and gilt titles; the jacket has some light indentation and rubbing marks and slight creasing along the upper back edge. Vast mumbers of ancient remains which are invisible, or barely visible, at ground level have been reveiled in amazing detail by air photography. This is the first general book to have been written on the subject by an experieced airman, who devoted much of his flying life to the study of ancient sites. It describes in detail how sites are detected from the air, procedures for mapping them and methods of flying and photography that yield the best results at minimum cost. Later chapters consider applications throughout the world, from agriculture to towns roads and villas. The text is amply illustrated with drawings and photographs.
