Central Africa, Japan, and Fiji

£19.99

Product description

Subtitled "A Story of Missionary Enterprise, Trials, and Triumphs." This small, but heavy, hardback book has a green decorated cloth cover with black and gilt titles. The corners are lightly bumped and the spine is a little discoloured, the back cover is still a very bright green, the front less so. Inside the hinge at the front is separating but the external hinge is complete. There is some foxing inside the covers but this does not extend into the book. The pages are clean and bright, the binding has some movement but is still intact. Published in 1882 by Hodder and Stoughton the book was written by Emma Raymond Pitman. The author uses the three areas of the title to highlight the different stages of Christian missions, Africa was only just at the beginning of the missionary experience, Japan was in the middle of it and Fiji was reaping the 'fruits of the Christian enterprise', (for the most part). The book is illustrated with many black and white engravings.
